Take A Look

Our Vision

We exist to see students who are far from Jesus, encounter Him and have their lives forever changed as they continue to grow closer to Him.

We want to see students:

Encounter Jesus – He alone will forgive and change (John 3:16, Romans 10:9, John 14:6)

Escape their past – We have all sinned and need freedom (Romans 3:23, 6:23, Galatians 5:1, John 8:36, Romans 6:6-7)

Find their Future – God has a purpose and a plan for all of us (John 10:10, Proverbs 19:21, Romans 8:28, Jeremiah 29:11)

Help the Next! – The student helps someone else with these steps (Matthew 28:19-20)

Our Leader

ChrisH-400x400Chris Howard has been in Student Ministry since 2003, at Life Church since July 2012 and on staff at life church since Jan 2013.
He was born raised in Sparta, moved to Cookeville in 2014. Leading students is his passion and purpose. He is married (Hali) with one child (Brooklyn).

“It is my goal and passion to see students who are far from Jesus meet Him in a real way, altering their entire life and the lives of those around them! I believe in equipping our leaders to be successful in making an impact on students and each other. I love to watch football, basketball, or baseball. I am incredibly competitive in all aspects of life. I love Jesus, my wife, my daughter, my momma, my church, and UT football. And I love shoes. I have more shoes than my wife, this is a fact that I am not ashamed of!”

What's Up In

Baptism Night

We baptized over 120 students on this night.  What an incredible thing God did in the lives of so many.

This video was sent to us and cannot be ignored.  Presenting our new worship team: Ethan & The Sparks.

There are so many amazing things happening in Student Life – hundreds are coming out every week to be a part of what God is doing.  If you found your way here – I want to encourage you to come out this Wednesday and hang out with us.

Whats Coming Up

252 LOGO-01252 is a semester long commitment designed to teach students to grow an intimate relationship with God. Each night will be intentional in-depth studies led by various Life Church staff members.

Students will experience hands- on ministry training both on and off campus. Thursday nights are focused on each other, and practicing our leadership skills, while Wednesdays/ Sundays are structured to serve the church. We believe in each of these men and women, and want them to see how exciting it can be to use your gifts to help discover theirs.

If you feel like 252 is something you would like to be a part of, contact us today!

1. We are new. What’s the best way to connect into Student Life?2. Why are 7th and 8th grade at The Edge with high school students instead of at The Garage3. As a parent, can I come check out Student Life?4. What is the best way to get updates on what is happening in Student Life?5. How do I get involved with serving in ministry with Student Life?
We are so excited that you are interested in what is happening in Student Life. One of the easiest ways to connect is just by showing up at one of our services. We have a team in place to help you get connected and answer any questions that you have. You may also contact Pastor Chris or any of our team members beforehand and we will have someone meet you at the door and show you around! You can send us a message through our contact form at the bottom of the page.
The world is changing, students are facing new challenges every year. Most 7th and 8th grade students are facing the same temptations that high schoolers face. 5th and 6th graders are privileged to have a service on Wednesday nights geared especially for them. This age group has passed the scope of “kid’s church” but isn’t ready for some of the topics that are addressed at the Edge. All middle school students are invited to join us at the Garage during our Sunday morning services!
Yes. Absolutely. All we ask is that you contact us first. Every Student Life Team member has been through training as well as completed a background check. The safety of your student and all other student is of upmost importance to us. We would love for you to check out any of our weekly services and would love to provide a team member to answer any questions that you have!
All you have to do is fill out your name and email to the left of this box. We will send out information, at least once a month, that will help you stay in the loop on what’s happening in Student Life. You can always email Pastor Chris with any questions that you have as well!
The entry point to any ministry at Life Church is Apex. This class is designed to better inform you about our church as well as to help you get plugged in with a ministry. Pastor Chris will be there on the last night of Apex to answer any questions that you have as well as going over some of the training that you will need to get involved with Student Life.
